My name is Candice Small. I began my journey in April 2022 as a temporary Office Support staff with the Ryan White Program. Since then, I’ve advanced through several roles including Administrative Specialist I, II, and Senior, and now serve as the HRSA/Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) Program Coordinator.
In this role, I coordinate with 11 sub-recipients including five Federally Qualified Health Centers, the Housing Collaborative, and the Jails Collaborative. My work focuses on expanding HIV care for underserved and justice-involved populations, enhancing cluster detection and response strategies, and supporting initiatives such as the Ryan White Provider Detailing Project and the Housing Pilot Collaborative.
Driven by the goals of EHE to diagnose, treat, prevent, and respond to HIV, I work to re-engage individuals who are out of care through community-based interventions and outreach. I’m passionate about building strong partnerships and creating access points that meet people where they are.
My ongoing goal is to continue growing as a leader especially enhancing communication skills that can bring all these moving parts together and make a meaningful impact through collaboration, equity, and community-centered care.
