Beth JohnsonBSMT, ASCP

Beth Johnson is the Global Preparedness and Environmental Branch Scientist Manager at the Kentucky Division of Laboratory Services. She is a graduate of Austin Peay State University with studies focused on Biology and Laboratory Medical Technology. Prior to her career at the KY Division of Laboratory Services, Beth worked as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in TN at Gateway Medical Center for 2 years before seeking work in public health at the TN Public Health Lab in Nashville. She also spent a year at a TN regional public health lab in Knoxville TN.  She has since dedicated the last 13 years of service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky at the Central Laboratory beginning first in the clinical microbiology lab before transferring into the Environmental Microbiology section, where she started as a lab scientist then became supervisor of both the Environmental Microbiology and Chemistry sections. During her time as an analyst, she also became a certified lab evaluation officer (LEO) for the FDA Grade A dairy program. Today, her role as Scientist Branch manager includes overseeing the Env. Micro and Chem sections and also the Preparedness section which is responsible for emerging high risk disease testing and bioterrorism samples. She has 3 direct reports and is the second reviewer for 8 additional staff and welcomes this opportunity for formal leadership training.
