Mamta has worked in the newborn screening laboratory at the Kentucky Department for Public Health for last 6 years plus. The laboratory screens newborn babies for genetic and metabolic disorders. Her primary responsibilities are performing complex biological and chemical testing procedures and assisting with the laboratory’s accreditations, Standard Operating Procedure Manuals and laboratory safety. Prior joining the public health department, she worked at the University of Kentucky (UK) for about 15 years in the field of infectious disease and cancer research.
Before joining UK, Mamta was working in the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, New Delhi, India. She has made her home Lexington for past 22 years. Along with research, while doing a course in the College of Public Health at the UK, she developed her interest in public health and got an opportunity to work in this field with the Kentucky State. She enjoys spending time with family and friends in nature.
