A Kentucky native, Laura Foley has served as executive assistant to the commissioner of health for the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Health Department for more than seven years. Prior to serving in Lexington, she was the executive assistant to the state commissioner of health in Frankfort, Kentucky. She is co-chair of the Kentucky Public Health Association (KPHA) Advocacy Committee and represents Kentucky on the American Public Health Association Governing Council. Recently, she shared original presentations at KPHA annual conferences on the topics of Revitalizing Public Health Administration and Music as Public Health. She is writing a book describing her concept for a new framework for public health.

Laura is a graduate of Bethany College and holds certification as an administrative professional from the International Association of Administrative Professionals. When not working in public health, Laura serves as director of music for her church. Her greatest joy is her son and family. She likes to say, “Life is about two things: learning and helping.”
