Katina Mickens is a Program Coordinator with the Office of Health Equity. In this role, Katina coordinates all health equity interests through assessment and planning efforts on a statewide basis.
Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Katina made Kentucky her home in 2007 as she attended Kentucky State University where she acquired a duel bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and psychology; then later, obtaining a master’s degree in banking finance.
Before joining the Department for Public Health, Katina has a diverse range of experience, including banking, management and human resources. She is also a member of Rotary and a graduate of Leadership Frankfort through the Frankfort Area Chamber of Commerce.
Katina’s varied background provided the perfect foundation to assist with necessary systematic process changes to support the Office of Health Equity excel under new leadership. Her professional goals include identifying strategies for improvement, team building, and empowering colleagues and vendors to continue being impactful by making positive changes in Kentucky.
